This past weekend, Charles and I ventured into the mountains for a cute little fall festival! We drove over to Estes park for their fall festival called “Pumpkins and Pilsners.” I would call this more of a festival that takes place in the fall, rather than your traditional fall festival with hay rides and pumpkin patches, but it was still a fun little getaway in the beautiful mountains!
Estes Park

Estes Park is a small little town in Northern Colorado. It’s only about a 45 minute drive from us in Boulder through the mountains. It’s known for being an advernture town at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We went a couple of months ago when Charles’ mom was in town and took the aeriel tram up the mountains to get a view of the town and it was beautiful! There’s also a lot of cute shops in the town to walk around and enjoy.
When we got into town there was a sign that said “Caution: High Elk Activity” and we were slightly bummed when we hadn’t seen one on the way out. But, we spotted one, in the front lawn of a building of all places! The elk was massive and we both though it was a statue at first. It was so awesome that we were able to get a picture!

Pumpkin and Pilsners Festival
But back to the festival! Parking is as you would expect at a festival in a small town, but we were able to find a place not too far and it gave me a good excuse to window shop. The festival was right in the center of town in a cute park, surrounded by the mountains. They had a concert stage with live music, food trucks, and of course, a beer tent. (I’m learning that no festival in Colorado is complete without a beer tent!). Charles got a beer and a corndog and we sat down to listen to the music and take in the surroundings!

We walked around a bit more, found the pumpkin patch, and took some silly pictures. There was also a couple cute things for kids, such as a pony rides and a bounce house, but sadly I was too big and couldn’t do either one. Then, we walked around town for a bit before heading back to Boulder! The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere was lively, and it was fun activity to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Next weekend, we’re headed to Aspen! Here’s hoping the leaves are still as beautiful as they are right now!! We missed peak season for Vail by about a week, but I LoVe seeing the fall colors all around me! Until next time…
